I’m one week short from finishing my third, 6-weeks workout plan, and it’s working wonders. I will always be grateful to myself for finally reaching out to my trainer, who is truly a professional. It cost money, but the results speak for themselves.
In the last years I lost 12 kgs, a lot of body fat, I’m down 2 sizes and my self esteem is better than it ever was in the last 5 years. When they say that consistency is the key, it sounds like a cliché, but it really is the key to achieve results. Believe me, I know very well how frustrating it is, especially at the beginning, and even worst when you see that progress is very slow. I’m surrounded by people claiming to have lost 10-15 kg in three months only cutting out alcohol and fried food; true or not, I constantly had to remind myself that every battle is different, to seek progress and not perfection, and not to compare yourself with others. It really is YOU vs YOU, every single day, in and out of the gym.
I know, it is UNBELIEVABLY hard. People say ”it’s not easy”: wrong. We should scream loud and clear how hard it is, so that when we see progress, we can scream loud and clear ”I made it”.
I couldn’t be happier with my progress in 2020; in a way, this pandemic, the isolation, all that went wrong (and EVERYTHING went wrong) really gave me the push I needed to focus on what matters most, and to commit every day to a healthier lifestyle. In a way it was easier, not having all the distractions of social life, and having fitness as the only stress relief tool. This doesn’t diminish the consistency that I’ve put in working out and diet, but I feel it did help.
It’s true what they say: a year from now you’ll wish you started today. That year has passed for me, and I couldn’t be happier.
I’m nowhere near done yet: fitness is a marathon, not a sprint. Looking forward for another year of progress, to become stronger, more resilient, and continue with this lifestyle.
If I’m making it, you can make it. Believe in yourself.
